A Minnetonka High School student asked a date to a sweetheart’s dance using jokes about Hitler, and posted a photo to Instagram in which the pair appear to be giving Nazi salutes. Both the Minnetonka High School principal and the schools’ superintendent have condemned the post as anti-Semitic and against school values. They are turning to community organizations to see how to better educate students about the Holocaust.

The government shutdown is affecting several area institutions, including the National Weather Service, where some 40 staff are going without pay. Training and routine maintenance at the station have halted as well in light of the shutdown.
