LUCKNOW: In a daring incident,
three masked assailants shot dead a businessman dealing in
marble trade inside his shop in
Pratapgarh on late Wednesday night. The police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of his murder.
The victim, Rajesh Singh (50), was a resident of Rakha Bazaar area and had his shop in Sadar area of the city just next to the house owned by a cabinet minister.
According to the police, around 8.30pm, three masked miscreants reached Singh’s shop.
The trio had an argument with Singh and then opened fire at him. Hearing the noise of gunshots, some passersby ran towards the shop and saw Singh lying in a pool of blood. The assailants then escaped from the spot firing several rounds in the air.
Singh was then taken to the district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, said the police.
SP Pratapgarh S Anand said that the motive of the killing of the businessman is not clear. “A footage showing masked miscreants fleeing towards Bhaliyapur area,” said Anand. Singh was shot at in the head.
