A team from the company found out that the fake wrappers resembling Britannia products were being used to sell biscuits purportedly made by a Hyderabad-based company.
The sources said the fraud enabled the distributors make Rs 2-3 on every Rs 10 packet of biscuits, against the 50 paise they used to get from selling authentic products.
“The fake biscuits and wrappers were made in Andhra Pradesh, particularly Hyderabad,” said police.
