LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party renegade Shivpal Yadav, who last year floated his own Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party, on Saturday announced to contest Lok Sabha election from Firozabad.
His announcement is likely to pit him against his nephew and sitting Firozabad MP Akshay Yadav, who is son of SP Rajya Sabha MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav.
In 2017, during the family feud, Shivpal had ousted Ram Gopal, who enjoys close proximity to SP supremo Akhilesh.

On Saturday, Shivpal took direct swipes at Akhilesh, accusing him of severing ties with family members with blood relationship and instead forging “makeshift relationships” with outsiders as “bua” in a reference to BSP supremo Mayawati.
“As far as my candidature is concerned I will fight from Firozabad. I have finalised it. Let SP field anyone here. At the moment, SP has lost credibility. Mayawati cant be bua (aunt) of anyone when Mulayam isnt her brother. She had made BJP leaders her brother in 1990s and then deserted them. She will desert anyone who doesnt give her portfolio” said Shivpal during a rally in Etawah.
He had last week reiterated that he has offered his brother Mulayam a Lok Sabha seat but would not field anyone against him if he doesnt contest.
