LUCKNOW: Ten people were arrested in Mathura, Lucknow and Agra for trying to rig the police constable recruitment exam conducted by Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) on Sunday. Candidates were taking the test armed with hi-tech tools like micro-ear pin device and a Bluetooth-enabled micro-mic embedded in a locket to get connected with solvers outside the exam hall.
In Lucknow, impersonators used photoshop software to fudge ID cards.
In Mathura, three persons — mastermind Pawan along with a solver, Raj Kumar, and the candidate, Jeevan Singh, were caught with Bluetooth devices during the Police Armed Constabulary recruitment exam. The arrests followed a tip-off from an informer. Police also said 12 members of the gang are still on the run. Earlier, they helped candidates cheat in offline exams and a probe is pending.
DySP (Noida STF) R K Mishra said Pawan would visit coaching centers and look for gullible candidates and those trapped would be asked to cough up Rs 5 lakh.
In Lucknow, a team raided Basudev Memorial Girls Degree College in Harihar Nagar of Chinhat and nabbed three persons — Nishant Prabhakar of Aliganj, Santosh Kumar of
Nalanda in
Bihar, Santosh Kumar Tiwari of
Gomti Nagar and Rahul Yadav of Kannauj.
Prabhakar is the mastermind of the gang while Santosh is a solver, who also doubled up as a mediator for the gang. Rahul Yadav would trap candidates.
In Agra, the team nabbed three persons on similar charges. Those arrested were identified as Shiv Kumar and Bhuvnesh, both from Mathura, and Satyam Katiyar of Kanpur Dehat. Police recovered Rs 42,000, three voter cards, 2 Aadhaar cards and other documents.
