HYDERABAD: A six-year-old girl was kidnapped by three persons in Suryapet district on Saturday evening. However, alerted by locals, police quickly reacted and nabbed the trio at LB Nagar in the city a few hours later.
The girl was rescued and handed over to her family.
The kidnapped girl, Keertana, hails from Maddirala village in Suryapet district,. She is the daughter of a private sector employee, Venkanna.
Two days ago, Keertana went to her uncle’s house in Chinna Nemila village in Maddirala mandal.
While Keertana was playing near her uncle’s house, a woman and two men offered her biscuits.
As Keertana was alone, she was easily lured by the trio who took the girl with them and left the place.
Some villagers noticed the girl walking with the trio, but they did not raise an alarm as the child appeared to be fine as if she knew the three. Later, when the family members of Keertana started looking for her, the locals realised about the kidnapping and asked the family to approach Nuthankal police.
After preliminary investigation, police identified the kidnappers as Dharavath Veeranna, his wife Shanti and their associate Ravi from neighbouring Mamindla Madava village. Cops realised that the kidnappers stay at LB Nagar in Hyderabad and work as daily wage labourers.
A special team was dispatched to Hyderabad and they located the accused. “We took them into custody and rescued the girl. Prima facie it looks like they took the girl as she was alone with an intention to sell her,” Nutankal SI Shiva Kumar said. A kidnapping case was booked.
