Leopard strays into home of villager in Palghar
MUMBAI: An adult leopard was spotted in the bathroom of a house in Dandi village of Palghar on Monday night.
Villagers who are in a state of panic have informed the forest department officials who are on their way to trap the wild cat.
The leopard was found in the bathroom of Vijay Tamore. The wild cat was spotted when a member of the Tamore family entered the bathroom located outside their cottage at around 9.30 pm.
The leopard was sitting in a corner and the Tamore family immediately shut the door.
The wild cat may have strayed into the village in search of food. The leopard would have found the door of the bathroom open and entered in.
Locals said that as it is cold people were inside their homes when the leopard entered the village.
Villagers shot video of the wild cat. Panic spread in the village even as they informed the forest department about the wild cat.
Locals said that some villagers had spotted the adult leopard a few days ago and had informed the forest department who were on the look out for the wild cat.
This is the first time a leopard has stayed into the Dandi village. Leopards have been spotted in villages of Saphale in Palghar district in the past.
Forest officials said that they have asked villagers to stay away from the wild cat which will have to be tranquilised before being taken away.
