As many as 110 students were restricted from entering the school premises where 35 cows were locked up by farmers in Mathura barely a week after a similar instance had come to light from Auraiya district.

In addition to this, the local farmers also locked up close to 50 bovines inside the cremation ground at Radhakund, says a report by Times of India.

Despite the state government's tall claims, little or nothing has been done by municipal bodies across Uttar Pradesh to get a handle on the menace caused by abandoned stray cattle.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had in the first week of this month instructed officials to shift stray cattle to shelters.

However, ground reports clearly indicate that little action has been taken to control the stray cattle menace which the chief minister has described as an 'artificial crisis'.

However, recent incidents such as the ones reported from Shahjahanpur, Ayodhya, Mathura, Auraiya and other parts of the state suggest otherwise.

In Shahjahanpur's Tilhar tehsil, local farmers distraught at their crops being destroyed by stray cattle locked the bovines up inside a health centre.

In fact, the situation in Ayodhya had escalated to an extent where the district administration was forced to impose Section 144 in order to restrict locals from abandoning their stray cattle on the streets.
