After attending the ceremony affirming the weddings of 15 couples at the Church of the Transfiguration on Jan. 19, Aaron Lucero and Jeff Cannon received an email from The Venue at Waterstone in Celina that it wouldn’t host their wedding. The wedding facility quoted the Bible as its reason to discriminate.

Celina is in Collin and Denton counties.

The couple received the email the day before they were to tour the facility in advance of their planned November wedding.

Waterstone has nothing on its website referring to its right-wing Christian views of marriage. The only hint it doesn’t host same-sex weddings is all its dozens of pictures are of opposite-sex couples.

After the venue refused to allow the gay couple to use its facility, The Knot, a wedding planning website, removed The Venue at Waterstone from its site.
