The home where Chris Watts chillingly killed his two daughters and his pregnant wife is to go up for sale.

The $550,000 Colorado property is set to be auctioned off after going into foreclosure.

Evil Watts, 33, murdered his pregnant wife Shanann, 34, and their daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, inside their family home in a twisted bid to start a new life.

The auction will be publicly announced on March 22 in the Greely Tribune, with the auction following a little less than a month later.

The family of Shanann had been seen removing her possessions from home shortly after her death on August 13, 2018.

Other documents obtained by the Daily Mail show that Watts purchased the home in May 2013 for $392,709 but almost six years later still had an outstanding principal balance of $349,938.09.

Further items were removed once the trial was concluded, with Watts accepting a plea deal of life in prison for confessing to the murders.

After killing his family Watts buried the body of his wife and dumped his daughters in oil tanks.

Friend Nicole Atkinson had reported Shannan missing in Frederick, Colorado after becoming worried when she failed to hear from her friend for more than 12 hours and realised her car was still parked in the garage.

Twisted Watts appeared on TV appealing for any information about his 'missing' family.

He was arrested shortly after but maintained that he was not responsible for the deaths of his children.

But his lies soon unravelled and he admitted to murdering them to avoid the death sentence.

Prosecutors said that Watts killed his family because he wanted to start a new life with his mistress.

At the time of the murders, Watts and his wife were still living together and had not filed for divorce.

Watts had grown distant and cold, and indicated he did not want another baby, while Shanann desperately tried to save their marriage, according to court documents.

The 33-year-old is serving out his life sentence at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Wapun, Wisconsin.

He was moved there on December 3 in a inmate exchange between the Colorado and Wisconsin Departments of Correction under the Interstate Corrections Compact for his own safety.
