Bihar: Former RJD MP Shahabuddin's nephew shot dead in Siwan

Former RJD MP Shahabuddin's maternal nephew Mohammad Yusuf (38) was shot dead by unidentified criminals near DAV Mor under Town police station area in Siwan late Friday night.

PATNA: Incarcerated former RJD MP Shahabuddin's maternal nephew Mohammad Yusuf (38) was shot dead by unidentified criminals near DAV Mor under Town police station area in Bihar's Siwan late Friday night.
"Police had received information late in the night that one person was lying in a pool of blood near DAV Mor," Siwan SP Naveen Chandra Jha told TOI.
"After receiving information, a police team was sent at the spot and the injured persons was admitted to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead,” he said.

The SP said that the body was later identified to be of Yunus, who is the maternal nephew of Shahabuddin.
"An empty and three live cartridges were recovered from the spot by police. All the cartridges were on 7.65mm which are used by criminals in a country made semi-automatic pistols. Yusuf was shot once in the chest on the left side which perhaps killed him at the spot after which the criminals had fled," The SP said.
"No one was found at the spot and the area was a secluded one. Yusuf’s residence was very near to the spot where his body was recovered,” he said, adding, the motive behind the killing was yet not clear.

He said police were waiting for a statement or a written complaint from the deceased’s family members.
"Yusuf mostly used to accompany Shahabuddin’s son Osama," he added.
Shahabuddin is presently lodged in Tihar Central Jail at Delhi after being shifted from Siwan on directions of Supreme Court. The apex court had upheld his life imprisonment sentence in murder of two brothers in Siwan by pouring acid on them and throwing their body into the river after chopping in pieces.
Recently, a CBI court in Muzaffarpur had framed charges against Shahabuddin and his associates for alleged involvement in senior journalist Rajdeo Ranjan murder case. Ranjan was shot dead at Andar Dhala in Siwan while he was returning home from the office on the night of May 13, 2016.
