West Bengal: Former Jhargram SP Bharati Ghosh joins BJP
KOLKATA: Former Jhargram SP Bharati Ghosh, who joined the BJP on Monday, said that she was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP president Amit Shah. Ghosh, who has been staying out of West Bengal following a probe started by the West Bengal government against her, said that she wants to work for the people in the state. Ghosh joined the BJP in presence of leaders like Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy.

I was not compelled to take the decision. I could have taken the decision earlier but obstructions were put in front of me to pull me back. Today I decided to take the plunge. Had there been any development in the state, people would have come out in the streets to say so. People will give their verdict in 2019.
“We will mix among people and take their opinion while working for them. Lakhs of people have lost their savings to the ponzi firms. People even took loans to invest in these schemes. Some have committed suicide. What surprises me that there is no satyagraha for those who have lost everything,” Ghosh said.
Raising questions about chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s satyagraha Ghosh said, "why are they on a satyagraha to save one police officer—however brilliant he may be. It seems that the satyagraha is to block the truth from people. Had the police commissioner been such a brilliant one then why did he fail to bring the guilty to the books,” Ghosh said.
"It is unbelievable that Sudipta Sen alone usurped more than Rs 15,000 crore. I expected the chief minister would cooperate with the CBI probe. Instead she sat in a dharna. The serving officers who have been seen sitting at the dharna manch, have put the neutrality under question now. The election commission should also take note of the issue,” she said.
My priority has been to work for the people. I have been doing so for long. We will work with everyone and that will create a popular perception. That perception will be enough to teach a lesson to the wrong doers.
Asked if she is ready to contest from any seat in West Bengal, Ghosh said that she had left a post to maintain her self-dignity. “I have not joined the BJP to look for a post or a get an entry into the parliament. I would love to work for a national party that works for the people,” she said.
