A North Carolina man with Lou Gehrig's disease, who received tickets to watch the Super Bowl with the help of a former Saints player and his nonprofit foundation, was killed in a vehicle accident on the way to the game in Atlanta.A spokesperson for Team Gleason, Steve Gleason's foundation for people who suffer from neurological diseases, confirmed Ed Cushman died in the accident."Our brief relationship with Ed's family was filled with excitement, as Team Gleason secured the ADA Super Bowl tickets he requested. Like so many with ALS, Ed was passionate about living and he dreamed of going to the Super Bowl. We were honored to have played a small role in helping make that possible for such an amazing man," according to a statement from Team Gleason.Team Gleason provided the tickets for Cushman, who arranged for his own transportation to the game. Cushman and his brother were involved in the accident in Lavonia, Georgia, which engulfed their vehicle in flames.Cushman's brother tried to rescue him, but Cushman died in the fire."Words cannot express how shocked we are for Ed and his entire family," Team Gleason said in their statement.
