HYDERABAD: A man allegedly killed his 26-year-old wife and their four-month-old son and set their bodies on fire in Ghatkesar town.
The incident came to the light when locals saw the charred remains of the woman and her child on a land and alerted the police through revenue officials.
Revenue officials also lodged a complaint with the Ghatkesar police about the charred remains of two unknown people found in a plot owned by one Dasu at Survey Number 86 of Kondapur village.

While Ghatkesar police were trying to establish the identity of the victims, their counterparts from Palakurthi police station in Jangaon district told that one Ramesh (27) of Gudur village in Palakurthi mandal approached them saying that he throttled his wife and son to death at Ghatkesar and then torched their bodies.
The victims were identified as Sushruta (26), and her four-month-old boy. In 2015, Sushruta, a native of Bollikunta village in Warangal district, fell in love with Ramesh, a native of Gudur village in Palakurthi mandal of Janagaon district.
Sushruta, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste, was a B Pharmacy graduate while Ramesh, who belonged to a Backward Caste, is a BTech graduate. He is currently working with a private company in Vikarabad. Their family members were against their relationship. However, the couple got married at Arya Samaj, Ghatkesar inspector P Raghuveer Reddy said.

“Ramesh said that for the past eight months, Sushruta was staying with her parents due to some differences with him. On Saturday evening, she along with her son came to Uppal to meet him. The couple along with their boy went to near ORR in Ghatkesar to discuss the problem and they had an argument. After the argument, Sushruta consumed sleeping pills and she fed the powder of one pill to the child. Ramesh did not interfere and while his wife was getting drowsy, he drove them on a bike to nearby open land. Ramesh throttled both his wife and child. Then, set them ablaze on a heap of wood using petrol purchased from a filling station nearby,” the inspector said.
Police arrested Ramesh and registered a case against him under section 302 and 201 of the IPC. Police are waiting to record the statement of Sushruta’s family members.
