AMGSU celebrates Basant Panchami at Tokpa Nepali Basti

The CC and SPGT Unit of All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) celebrated Saraswati Puja yesterday at Shri Durga Mandir at Tokpa Nepali Basti in Kangpokpi District.
Saraswati Puja also known as Basant Panchami is a Hindu festival that mark the arrival of spring which the Hindu community celebrated every year as Saraswati Puja dedicating themselves to the Goddess of knowledge, language, music and all other forms of arts.
They also believed that the Goddess is the energy of Brahma and it symbolized creative energy and power in all forms including longing and love.
The event was also celebrated in all AMGSU units including Senapati, Toribari Unit at Kangpokpi, Kalapahar Unit at Durga Mandir Kalapahar, Motbung and Charhajare Unit, Kanglatongbi Unit at Shri Shri Vishnu Durga Au Shiva Teen Panchayan Mandir, Kanglatongbi, Leimakhong Unit, Greater Imphal Unit, Serou and Churachandpur Unit and Ukhrul Unit at Durga Mandir Ukhrul.
The festival was celebrated mainly at their respective Mandir by all units of All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union every year.
As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Sri Sri Durga Mandir, Tokpa Gorkha in Kangpokpi District, the CC and SPGT Unit off AMGSU joined the momentous 50 years commemoration of the Mandir where they also celebrated Saraswati Puja.
MM Ashokan, RSS, Kshetriya Karyakarini, North East India graced the Golden Jubilee and Saraswati Puja celebration as chief guest while Adim Panmei, vice-chairman, State Disaster Management Authority, who is also the National President of BMA attended as special guest.
BP Vikas Basnet, executive member, ADC Sadar Hills and other Gorkha Members of ADC Sadar Hills including Sagar Gewali (Irang Part-I), Milan Pradhan (Kalapahar) and Meena Bista, Pradhan Panch, Kanglatongbi G/P, Shiva Kumar Basnet, ex-Pradhan, Kharga Tamang, social worker and Ram Prasad Dahal, Pandit also attended the function as guests of honour.
A monolith erected to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Sri Sri Durga Mandir, Tokpa Gorkha was unveiled by MM Ashokan, RSS, Kshetriya Karyakarini, North East India as chief guest in the presence of other dignitaries.
