Two DAR staff arrested in twin murder case
UDUPI: Two staff members of the District Armed Reserve police were arrested on Sunday for helping the accused in a twin murder case and were remanded to judicial custody till February 15. Bharath, 30, and Yathish, 25, were murdered at Cikkanakere, Mannur village in Kota, Udupi district on January 26 over a toilet pit dispute.
Pawan Amin, 31, and Virendra Acharya, 31, are said to be involved with six others accused in the case for many years, said SP Laxman Nimbargi.

After the murder of the youths, Rajeshekhar Reddy and others accused took shelter at Pawan Amin’s house at Hebri Kuchur on January 26 night. On January 27, Harish Reddy called Pawan to get a sim card, mobile phone and money. Pranav Bhat was the conduit for these to be delivered at the Hebri house. Later that night, Pawan and Virendra Acharya arranged a car and sent all the accused to Pawan’s relative's home in Mallundur, Agumbe.
Pawan returned with Virendra on January 28. Pawan hid the mobile phones and other items allegedly used by Harish Reddy. Police seized a car, a obile phone and some items used in connection with the murder.

Pawan, a resident of Hebri Kuchur, and Virendra Acharya of Byndoor, were appointed to DAR in 2008. Initially, they served in the computer division at the District Police Office. For the past three years, they served with the force. An order was given on Monday to expel both for delinquency.
Udupi ZP member Raghavendra Kanchan, Rajashekhar Reddy, G Ravi alias Medical Ravi, Harish Reddy, Mahesh Ganiga and Ravi alias Ravichandra Poojary are the others arrested in connection with the murder.
