Big Frosty Beer Festival (Raleigh Beer Garden, 614 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh) - There will be a great lineup of local, regional and national breweries during this event Saturday afternoon at Raleigh Beer Garden. Enjoy samples and live music.
Downtown Raleigh Home Show (Raleigh Convention Center, 500 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh) - Discover the latest in home improvement, design, landscaping and more at the Downtown Raleigh Home Show Friday through Sunday at the Raleigh Convention Center. "This Old House" host Kevin O'Connor will be this year's special guest.
Duck Donuts decadence: Chocolate with coconut, powdered sugar, chocolate with sprinkles and cinnamon sugar.

The Music of Whitney Houston with the North Carolina Symphony (Meymandi Concert Hall, 2 E South St., Raleigh) - Whitney Houston was a diva of rare talent with a powerhouse voice that touched our hearts and souls. Join the Symphony and vocal sensation Amanda Cole, formerly of En Vogue, for a Valentine’s weekend show celebrating the Whitney songs you know and love, including “How Will I Know?,” “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?,” and of course, “I Will Always Love You.”

Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - You can see Roald Dahl's amazing tale through Sunday at Durham Performing Arts Center. The show features songs from the original film, including "Pure Imagination," "The Candy Man," and "I've Got a Golden Ticket," alongside a toe-tapping and ear-tickling new score.
The Love Hangover (Kings, 14 W Martin St., Raleigh) - Local luminaries of the music scene come two by two and each duo performs love songs at this 12th annual event at Kings and Neptunes on Friday night.
Love Yourself Dance Party (Imurj, 300 S. McDowell Street, Raleigh) - Head to Imurj in downtown Raleigh on Friday night for this evening featuring comedian Britt Spruill, burlesque performances and a house music dance party with DJ LonelyGirl. Admission is $5 cash at the door.
A Life In The Theatre (Theatre in the Park, 107 Pullen Rd., Raleigh) - Enjoy Theatre in the Park's production of this show starring Ira David Wood III and Ira David Wood IV. The story focuses on the lives of two actors: John, young and rising into the first flush of his success; the other Robert, older, anxious, and beginning to wane. In a series of short, spare, and increasingly raw exchanges, we see the estrangement of youth from age and the wider, inevitable and endless cycle of life, in and out of the theatre. Performances run through Feb. 23.

462 Stand Up Comedy Showcase (PIT Chapel Hill, 462 West Franklin Street, Chapel Hill) - This monthly stand-up show on Friday night features some of the area's best comics, including Tori Chaffee, Chaz Evans, Vishal Krishnasami, Reid Pegram and David Micheal.
