‘URI: The Surgical Strike’, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead, has gone on to become one of the biggest hits of the year with the film crossing the 200-crore mark. The team celebrated the film’s success with much pomp and excitement. However, in the wake of the recent terror attack in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 40 jawans, the director has come forward to express his shock and grief.
Opening up to an entertainment portal, Dhar said that after making ‘URI’, this attack felt more personal as he now feels like he lost his brothers.
Calling the attack “truly heartbreaking”, he said that the government should do whatever deemed necessary to end these horrific and cowardly acts of violence. He went on to suggest that the government should isolate Pakistan and completely cut ties with them.
Bollywood celebrities such as Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Shabana Azmi, Rishi Kapoor, and many others expressed shock over the terror attack that is considered as one of the deadliest in the state in over three decades of militancy. A Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bus in Pulwama district, killing 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded.
