HIGH SCHOOL

This week's high school boys basketball Fab 15: There's a new No. 1

Here is a look at this week’s Fab 15, a weekly ranking of the top high school boys basketball teams in Central Indiana:

1. Carmel (19-1)

The Greyhounds rise to the top of the list after a 69-52 win over Warren Central on Friday and a 54-35 win over Warsaw on Saturday. After Karsten Windlan (19 points) and Luke Heady (18 points) led the way on Friday, Andrew Owens (17 points) and John-Michael Mulloy (15 points, 10 rebounds) paced Carmel on Saturday. Great balance. The Greyhounds were 49-for-59 from the free-throw line for the weekend. Carmel hosts Fort Wayne Dwenger on Friday. Previous: 2.

2. Warren Central (20-2)

The Warriors had not allowed more than 60 points in a game all season until a 69-52 loss to Carmel on Friday night. Carmel’s 30-for-35 free-throw shooting had a lot to do that with that. Warren Central looked a little unlike itself, however. Coach Criss Beyers called out his team for a lack of leadership and toughness. It will be interesting to see how the Warriors respond with two tough games this week – at home against Pike on Tuesday and at home against Crispus Attucks on Thursday. Previous: 1.

Zionsville's Isaiah Thompson is over 2,000 career points.

3. Lawrence Central (19-3)

The Bears won their sixth consecutive game, 64-52, over Mt. Vernon last week. Jacob LaRavia, D’Andre Davis and Nijel Pack are all averaging more than 16 points per game. Lawrence Central hosts Southport on Friday in the regular-season finale. Previous: 3.

4. Cathedral (17-5)

The Irish dropped a 56-55 decision to Ben Davis on Friday night, but rebounded with a 77-65 home win over Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday. Cathedral will close the regular season on Tuesday at home against Metropolitan. Previous: 4.

5. Zionsville (17-5)

The Eagles pummeled Tech 76-57 on Tuesday and wrapped up the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship with a 48-44 win over Fishers on Friday. Isaiah Thompson had 31 points against Tech to go over 2,000 career points. Previous: 6.

6. Lawrence North (14-6)

Jared Hankins scored 21 points in Lawrence North’s 71-59 win over Fort Wayne South Side on Saturday, a night after the Wildcats defeated Pike 73-70. Lawrence North hosts Howe on Tuesday and is at Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday. Previous: 7.

7. Pike (13-8)

Pike dropped its only game of the week, 73-70, to Lawrence North. The Red Devils will close the regular season at Warren Central on Tuesday night. Previous: 5.

8. Center Grove (15-7)

The Trojans picked up a pair of victories, over Mooresville (41-38) and North Central (53-34). Center Grove will finish up at Brownsburg on Tuesday and against Columbus North on Thursday at home. Previous: 8.

10. Ben Davis (13-7)

Jalen Windham led the way with 23 points and five assists and Dawand Jones added 14 points as Ben Davis knocked off Cathedral 56-55 in its only game of the week. The Giants will host Decatur Central on Tuesday and play at Tech on Friday to close the season. Previous: 10.

11.  Fishers (15-7)

The Tigers came up a little short of a Hoosier Crossroads Conference title, falling 48-44 to Zionsville on Friday night despite 15 points and 13 rebounds from freshman Jeffrey Simmons. Fishers closes the regular season at Kokomo on Wednesday. Previous: 11.

12. Brebeuf Jesuit (14-5)

The Braves handled Heritage Christian 61-43 on Friday in a battle of Circle City Conference leaders. Brebeuf can win the title outright with a win over Roncalli on Friday night. Previous: 13.

13. Hamilton Southeastern (14-7)

The Royals dropped a 70-54 decision to Brownsburg on Friday, which followed a 94-60 win over Anderson on Tuesday. HSE looks to close the regular season on a high note Friday at home against Lawrence North. Previous: 12.

14. Avon (12-9)

The Orioles are riding a season-high four-game winning streak after taking down Greenfield-Central (92-67) and Noblesville (47-43). Avon will host Martinsville on Thursday in its final regular season game. Previous: 15.

15. Howe (14-4)

The Hornets have won four in a row after wins over Metropolitan (73-66) and Terre Haute North (77-63) last week. Jalen Stamps had 19 points to lead Howe in the win over Terre Haute North. Howe is at Lawrence North on Tuesday and hosts Indiana Math & Science on Wednesday. Previous: NR.
