Strict measures sought to stop animal sacrifice

In the wake of reports of possibility of large scale animal sacrifice during the forthcoming fairs in the districts of Gadag, Belagavi, Koppal and Chitradurga, president of Vishwa Prani Kalyan Mandali and Basava Dharma Jnana Peetha Dayanand Swami has urged the district administrations to take stringent measures to prevent animal sacrifice.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, the swami said large number of people would gather at Durgadevi Jatra at Bommasamudra in Gadag, Mahalaxmi Devi Jatra at Godalli in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi, Dyamambika Jatra at Kumbalavati in Koppal, Thipperudraswamy Jatra at Nayakanahatti in Chitradurga, and in all these places animal sacrifice had been witnessed in large scale during the earlier years. He said he had informed senior officials on the need to take stringent measures to curb animal sacrifice and follow the High Court order in this reagrd.
