UP: Farrukhabad GRP lodges FIR after blast in Kalandi Express in Kanpur district

An FIR was lodged by GRP Farrukhabad of Agra division after a low intensity blast occurred on Wednesday night Kalandi Express in UP's Kanpur district.

The blast occurred in second last coach (general) of the train.
AGRA: An FIR was lodged by GRP Farrukhabad of Agra division after a low intensity blast occurred on Wednesday night Kalandi Express in UP's Kanpur district.
At around 3:30am on Thursday morning, JP Verma, the guard of Kalandi Express (14723), lodged an FIR at Farrukhabad GRP against unknown person under 151 Railway Act, Explosive Substance Act sections 3,4 and IPC 286 (Negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance).

Speaking to TOI, Verma said, “The blast occurred in the second last coach (general) of the train. As soon I gave green signal for departure from Barrajpur railway station, at exact 6:55pm, an explosion occurred in the toilet of coach which was next to mine.”
“The sound of the blast was pretty strong. Immediately after the blast, I jumped out of the train and rushed to affected coach and started evacuation. Fortunately, no one was injured. At around 7:30pm, police team of Shivarajpur reached the railway station to take control of the situation,” he added.

According to railway authorities, the Bhiwani bound train came to Barrajpur station at 6:52 am and after thorough inspection by bomb disposal unit and ATS team, the train was departed from the station at 11:04 pm.
Rahul Chaudhary, a passenger who was traveling in the train said, “Seconds before the blast I was standing beside the toilet where the blast occurred. I saw a man covered in blanket. Right before the blast he left the train.”

After the blast, police recovered a hand written note, allegedly written by an unidentified person who claimed himself to be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. A copy of the letter accessed by TOI, read, “Two 2kg RDX will be planted in PM Modi rally to explode.”
DGP office PRO R K Gautam said, “An enquiry has been ordered in the incident. More relevant sections will be added in the FIR based on the findings.”
Meanwhile, intensive checking drive was conducted at Tundla, Aligarh, Agra Cantt, Mathura and other stations of Agra division on Thursday.
