International law firm Walkers Bermuda has hired Shannon Dyer, a former Bermuda Monetary Authority legal counsel.

Mr Dyer is now a senior associate in the insolvency and dispute resolution practice at Walkers Bermuda, a full service commercial law firm at Park Place, 55 Par-la-Ville Road.

The firm said Mr Dyer brought a wealth of experience as a litigator and in a variety of commercial actions.

Prior to joining the BMA, Mr Dyer was employed at ASW Law Ltd for almost seven years. During this time he acted and appeared in a variety of commercial actions including international insurance/reinsurance arbitrations, trust disputes, fund and investment business disputes, shareholder disputes, general corporate and commercial disputes, insolvencies, restructurings and the enforcement of foreign judgments.

In the insurance/reinsurance area, specifically, Mr Dyer acted for policyholders, cedants and reinsurers and appeared in international arbitrations in New York, London, and Bermuda. During his time at the BMA he led regulatory investigations into insurance and reinsurance entities including insurance managers, brokers, and agents.

He has further conducted regulatory investigations into banks, trust companies, corporate service providers, investment funds, hedge funds, and investment business companies.

Walkers Bermuda managing partner Kevin Taylor said: “We are very pleased that Shannon has agreed to join our team. His expertise and experience will enhance our Bermuda litigation bench as well as our globally-renowned regulatory practice.”
