Darbhanga-Mysore train to get LHB coaches

PATNA: The East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to replace the conventional coaches of the Darbhanga-Mysore Bagmati Express (12577/12578) with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) ones from the point of view of safety and comfort of passengers from February 26.
According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the number of berths in the train will increase from the present 1,136 to 1,250.
It will run with a load combination of three 2-AC, four 3-AC, 10 sleeper and two general coaches, two brake vans and one pantry car.
“The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of passengers and provide comfort to them,” Kumar said.
ECR to run 2 trains: The ECR will run two pairs of passenger trains on the Koderma-Kawar section from February 25 after completion of the Koderma-Giridih new line project. A sum of Rs 372 crore was sanctioned for the project in 1997-98.
The railways first covered a stretch of about 34km between Koderma and Nawadih and then a stretch of 53km between Nawadih and Kawar.
“A decision has been taken to run passenger trains between Kawar and Maheshmunda after completion of the last leg of the Koderma-Giridh project,” the CPRO said.
According to sources, the railways is carrying out electrification work in full swing on the new lines being laid on different sections under the ECR’s jurisdiction for faster movement of trains.
