Sacked school teacher hangs self in Nalanda

BIHARSHARIF: A schoolteacher, who was recently dismissed from service in Nalanda district, committed suicide while another school teacher suddenly fell ill and died on Thursday.
According to sources, one Sita Kumari, a teacher at Lakhachak primary school under Noorsarai block and resident of Kashmirichak village under the same block allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her residence as she was under depression following her dismissal from services on January 19.

Law and order DSP Sanjay Kumar said police found the body of the deceased teacher hanging from the ceiling of her room of the rented accommodation at Noorsarai Bazar area. According to preliminary investigation, the deceased teacher was under depression following her termination from service recently. He said she was also facing financial difficulties. The deceased’s son Raushan Kumar has lodged a complaint against a former mukhiya and three others but the details will be disclosed after an inquiry is conducted.
Sources in the district education office said that the deceased who was appointed by the panchayat in 2012 was found guilty of securing job using wrongful means by the state appellant authority recently, following which the department dismissed her. A family friend of the deceased also said that she had not drawn a single month's salary since her appointment and a lot of money was spent on litigation.
On December 30 last, a woman panchayat teacher Priya Sinha who was posted at Dhanawa primary school under Ben panchayat had committed suicide allegedly due to financial constraints. Her husband Neeraj Sinha said she had been under depression as she had not received a single month's salary since her appointment in 2015.
