BSEB Board exam 2019: 11 students expelled, 4 impersonators held

PATNA: The Matriculation exams, which are conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), began across the state amid tight security arrangements on Thursday.
Approximately 16.6 lakh candidates, including 8.23 lakh girls, wrote the English paper in two sittings at 1,418 exam centres on Day 1. In the first sitting from 9.30am to 12.45pm, 8.42 lakh students appeared for the exam, while the remaining wrote the paper in the second sitting from 1.45pm to 5pm.
At least 11 students - two each in Gaya, Vaishali, Jamui and Siwan and one each in Auragabad, Arwal and Saran - were expelled for using unfair means and four impersonators - three in Munger district and one in Gaya - were caught from different exam centres.

According to BSEB officials, the exams went off peacefully without any untoward incident reported from the centres.
BSEB chairman Anand Kishor inspected the centres at Rajkiya Balika Uchh Vidyalaya and Rajkiya Balak Uchh Vidyala in Shastrinagar, K B Sahay Uchh Vidyalaya and Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav Uchh Vidyalaya in Punaichak. CCTV cameras were installed at all the centres and videography and photography done during the exams. Students were also frisked.
Kishor asked the head examiners to maintain a visitors' register. "Keeping track of the visitors, including the board's officials, is compulsory at all the examination centres," the BSEB chairman said.

Meanwhile, Patna district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi visited Bankipore Girls' High School and frisked the examinees in the first sitting. He instructed the deputed police personnel, head examiner and invigilators to maintain strict vigilance till the last day of the Matric exams.
Besides, a WhatsApp group of all the district education officers has been created so that they can remain in touch with the BSEB office. A helpline number has also been issued for examinees and examiners for solving queries.
Students of Bapu Mahila Uchh Vidyalaya in Patna were elated after they wrote the English paper. Class X student Kavita Kumari said, "It was an easy paper. I completed it in no time."
