Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Position and proposals of the League of Pastors on the crisis
In a note published this week, the Pastors of Petit-Goâve fix their position on the national crisis and make several proposals to contribute to the settlement of this socio-political that the country has been going through since February 7th.

Excerpts from the note of Pastors of Petit-Goâve :
"It is with great sadness that the League of Pastors of Petit-Goâve notes the collapse of Haiti : the people are starving; there is no water, the hospitals are dysfunctional; life is expensive ; the school can not function normally; there is no electricity; the country's economy is deteriorating; violence is being waged against lives and property, both public and private, and insecurity is in full swing.

The League of Pastors of Petit-Goâve condemns, with all its strength, the acts of violence perpetrated throughout the country and recognizes that the people have the right to demonstrate in accordance with the Constitution in order to demand respect for their rights to nutrition, health and education.

Therefore, the League of Pastors of Petit-Goave makes the following proposals :

1) All the vital forces of the country must unite and organize an inclusive national dialogue with a view to finding a "Modus operandi" capable of taking the country out of the abyss;

2) Justice must adopt measures against criminals and against all those involved in the squandering of State funds including PetroCaribe funds that could have been used to improve the situation of the Haitian people. The Bible says : 'Justice raises a Nation' ;

3) Immediate steps must be taken to lower the prices of basic necessities. The people can no longer;

4) The Haitian state must boost national production, particularly agricultural production, so that the people can feed themselves. In this sense, the League hopes that the friendly countries of Haiti, the USA, Canada, France and China with modern agricultural techniques will help Haiti in this area. Thus, the people will consume what they produce and cultivate what they consume [...]"
