There was plenty of action in the WIAA Friday night.

In the girl's high school hockey sectional final, the Sun Prairie Co-op took on Onalaska. Down one, Zephryn Jager brought up the puck to Brynna Banuelos who scored to tie the game at 1. The game went to overtime, where the Sun Prairie Co-op won 5-4 to head to state. NBC15's Mike Jacques says congratulations to the Cap City Cougars.

Moving to the WIAA girl's gymnastic sectionals at Mount Horeb High School, the high beam came up first for Mount Horeb, where Grace O'Neil looked quite graceful. She stuck the dismount and had a 9.125 as her score.

Moving to the floor exercise, Payton Jenks-Rec flipped herself to a team-best score of 9.025. For the uneven bars, Brittany Reuter of Baraboo got a team-high score of 7.82.

Finally, on the floor for Mount Horeb, Andrea O'Connell flips, spins and sticks pretty much everything to earn her score of 9.5. Mount Horeb wins the sectional with Elkhorn finishing second. Both teams will be going to state.

Girl's basketball also went down Friday night. Verona hosted Waunakee in the Division One regional semifinal.

In the first half there was some sharpshooting by the Warriors. Caitlyn Kesilewski was looking for someone to get open, before realizing she was in fact wide open and drained a three-pointer.

A little later, Aaliyah Smith is going to match that with nothing but net. Not long after that open make from Smith, Rachel Parman drove the lane to lay up a basket for the Wildcats.

Waunakee responded on an in-bound play with Kiana Schmitt banking one of the back board. Waunakee went on to win 66-51.
