CHIKKAMAGALURU: A tiger was spotted at Halasur village near
Balehonnur town of the district on Sunday. The tiger was found walking on the Balehonnur-Halasuru road. The picture of the tiger was taken by a forest department staff who was riding on the road.
According to the forest department sources, tigers have been spotted in the area many times. "They are very familiar. They were found even in the camera traps installed by the forest department in the area.
But till now these tigers haven't attacked any human being or cattle," said a forest department official.
"The tiger wasn't traced again since Sunday," said authorities.
Meanwhile, the tiger spotting created tension among the locals who fear that the
big cat might attack them during night time. "Tiger population is very high in this area. We hope they will not attack human beings," said Padmanabha Gurikar, a resident of NR Pura.
