BIHARSHARIF: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday laid foundation stone for a dental college and hospital at Paithna village under Rahui block in Nalanda district.
The state-of-the-art 100-bed hospital is expected to come up in three years at an estimated expenditure of Rs 404 crore. The building, which is to come up on a sprawling area of 9,59,601sqft, will be designed and constructed with the technical support from IIT-Roorkee, said an official release.
The CM said his government was committed to ensuring overall development of the state with its benefits reaching the common people.
“Every household has been electrified in the state and lanterns are no more required here,” the CM said in a veiled reference to RJD.
The CM urged people to attend the Sankalp Rally of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) which will be held in Patna March 3. “I will not say anything political from this stage. If you are interested in politics, come to Patna on March 3 for the NDA’s rally,” he said.
Health minister Mangal Pandey, who inaugurated a model vaccination centre and an automated information centre at Biharsharif sadar hospital before the dental college function, also invited people to attend the NDA rally which will be addressed by PM Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and others.
State rural development and parliamentary affairs minister Shrawan Kumar and Nalanda MP Kaushlendra Kumar also accompanied the CM. Nitish inaugurated different development projects worth Rs 18 crore and laid foundation stones for various rural and urban projects worth over Rs 600 crore on the occasion.

Before laying the foundation stone for dental college in Rahui block, the CM visited centre of excellence for vegetables at Chandi and inaugurated engineering fair there. He also inaugurated Salehpur-Dhamouli and Dosutpur roads and laid foundation stones for two river projects – one to link the Chirayya river with the Muhane river and the other to clean the bed of the Noni river.
Nitish said his government initiated several measures to improve education scenario in the state. “Schemes like distribution of bicycles among students, student credit card, computer training and skill development will go a long way in helping the youth of the state,” he said, adding inclusive development was his government’s motto.
