The year 2019 has started on a better note for The Nilgiris tea sector, the largest tea growing district in South India.
Tea compnies here have reported to the Tea Board that the production in January 2019 rose to 0.84 mkg from 0.73 mkg in January 2018, marking a gain of 0.11 mkg or 15.07 per cent.
This was also more than the normal production as measured by the five-year mean for the month which was 0.81 mkg.
