NEW DELHI: The body of a 24-year-old woman, who had gone missing two days earlier from Dakshinpuri, was found stuffed in a gunny bag in the bushes near Sarita Vihar on Wednesday. The possibility of sexual assault has not been ruled out.
Her family alleged that she had left home on Monday afternoon for a job interview at a private company after allegedly receiving a call from a woman friend. They registered a complaint with the local police station, but no efforts were allegedly made to track her down.
Her parents are security guards with a private company, while her sister studies in a private college in Kolkata.
The woman’s father claimed that both he and his wife were at work when she called to say that she was leaving home to meet her friend, who had promised to introduce her to someone who would interview her for a job.
“We returned at night and found the door to our house locked from outside. We called her, but her phone was switched off. We then went and lodged a police complaint. When the cops didn’t respond till Wednesday, we went to the police station again on Thursday. The policemen told us they will register an FIR and start looking for our daughter,” said the girl’s father.
Police received a call about a suspicious gunny bag near the railway line on the Sarita Vihar-Noida route and found the body in it. They later identified her as the missing woman.
DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said there were injury marks on the throat and arms of the body. A crime team inspected the spot and CCTV footage from the area was analysed. It appears that the woman was murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped there. The killers may have carried her in a car.

Family members said they are unaware of the identity of the woman who had lured their daughter with the offer of an interview. They said she had worked with a popular TV show till July last year and had looked for a job at the channel as well.
A probe revealed that the last call received by her was from a woman around 3.15pm on Monday. The possibility of an attempt to force her into the flesh trade has also not been ruled out. The body was sent for an autopsy to confirm sexual assault and then handed over to her family members.
“We have registered a case of murder. We have some clues with which her locations are being tracked. The crime scene will also be recreated,” DCP Biswal said.
