CM Nitish Kumar to lay stone for Nalanda Open University campus on Friday

BIHARSHARIF: Chief minister Nitish Kumar will lay foundation for a new campus of Nalanda Open University (NOU) adjacent to the ruins of ancient Nalanda University on Friday.
Nitish made an announcement in this regard while inaugurating three water projects, a road project and three other rural projects worth over Rs 28 crore and laying foundation stones for 67 projects worth Rs 222 crore at Nanand under Rajgir block on Thursday.
NOU is currently functioning from Biscomaun Tower in Patna.
“Overall development of the state is the priority of the state government. The government is providing pure drinking water and toilets to every household as 90% of the diseases are caused due to consumption of contaminated water and open defecation,” the CM said.
He added he was not content only after launching different development projects meant for uplift of particular areas and their inhabitants, but also constantly ensure ways to monitor them at micro level.
“This is the reason that a junior engineer has been appointed for every four panchayats to ensure progress of development work,” the CM said.
Nitish also urged people to join NDA’s rally in Patna on March 3, which is likely to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah.
At Hilsa, the CM inaugurated eastern bypass and other projects worth Rs 28.6 crore, while he laid foundation stone for various other projects worth Rs 306 crore.
