BHOPAL: The BJP is all set to kick off its Lok Sabha poll campaign in Madhya Pradesh from this month with Prime Minister Narendra Modi planning a visit Dhar on March 5 to address a mega rally of tribals. Party's national president Amit Shah will also officially launch a mega bike rally in Umaria district on March 2.
"Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to address two rallies in Hoshangabad and Dhar districts on February 15 and 16, respectively.
His programme was however, postponed due to attack on CRPF jawans in Pulwama, in Jammu and Kashmir a day before. The Prime Minister is now likely to address a mega tribal rally in Dhar on March 5", said a senior BJP state functionary".
Ahead of Prime Minister Modi's visit, BJP president Amit Shah will visit the tribal dominated Umaria district on Saturday where he will kick-off a bike organised by the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
"More than 5,000 members of party's youth wing will attend the bike rally named `Vijay Sankalp 2019' in the presence of Amit Shah ji. Similar rallies will also be flagged off by the party leaders in all 52 districts across the state to launch an official poll campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections", said BJYM state president, Abhilash Pandey.
He said the programme will be held at 11 am in Amar Shaheed Stadium of Umaria. Party's state chief Rakesh Singh, former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition in MP Vidhan Sabha, Gopal Bhargava will be present among others during the rally.
Sources in BJP said that in Prime Minister's Dhar rally, workers from Dhar, Ratlam and Mandsaur Lok Sabha areas have been asked to participate. In Umaria, party workers from
Shahdol, Mandla and Sidhi have also been invited to present during the address of Amit Shah. A similar workers' convention is being organised in Sagar where BJP workers from Bundelkhand will participate. The date, time and venue of the programme will be declared very soon, said sources.
Shah’s visit to tribal-dominated Umaria district is also aimed at mobilising party’s grassroot workers among tribals in small towns and villages. Sources disclosed that BJP and RSS have already launched a series of programmes under the social harmony drive in prominent tribal-dominated constituencies. The mobilisation of workers ahead of Lok Sabha polls would strengthen the saffron network in prominent booths too, sources added.
