Umaria: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Saturday said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi can build a strong India, economically and militarily.

“Who can ensure security of nation? Who can ensure rapid economic development? Who can give a befitting reply to Pakistan? Answer to all the questions is Prime Minister Narendra Mo-di”, Mr Shah said while launching a bike rally, part of the nationwide Vijay Sankalp, ahead of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections at Umaria under Bundelkhand region in Madhya Pradesh.

He termed return of Wing Commander Abhinandan captured by Pakistani forces after his Mig 21 Bison crashed in Pak occupied Kashmir, as “huge diplomatic victory” for India.

Taking a dig Congress, Mr Shah wondered why the party had failed to take action against Paki-stan after 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. “Pakistan had taken India for granted after 26/11 Mumbai attack, thinking India will not strike back. But, the Modi government gave befitting reply to Pakistan with the surgical strike after the 2016 terror attack in Uri. Pa-kistan carried out Pulwa-ma attack thinking India will not respond  due to fast approaching LS elections. But, we replied with surgical strike two,” he added.  He lambasted poeple who questioned airstrike by India in PoK.“Mamata didi questions if the airstrike at all took place”, he said.

It was very difficult time for Pakistan for four days after airstrike on February 26. But, Rahul Gandhi’s press conference finally gave a chance to Pakistan to be happy, he added.

Reading out a joint statement after a meeting of Opposition parties-led by Congress on Friday, Mr Gandhi said they expressed “deep anguish” over BJP’s “blatant politicization” of the sacrifices made by Indian armed forces.

Mr Shah said elections were not priority for his party but the security of the nation was. But elections hold different significance for some, he said. “Because one is now old enough to become PM, or because a dynasty wants their ‘heir’ to become PM”, he quipped.
