State recruits support staff for Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench
Jalpaiguri: The state government has already recruited the support staff for running the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench of the Calcutta high court that will be thrown open to public on March 11.
West Bengal governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and judges from the Supreme Court and the high court will formally inaugurate the circuit bench within its precincts on March 9.

Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, chief minister Mamata Banerjee and state law minister Moloy Ghatak are likely to attend the formal inauguration. Acting Chief Justice of the high court, Biswanath Somadder, is coming to Jalpaiguri on Sunday and will stay in town till the bench starts operations on March 11.
The bench will cater to litigants from Jalpaiguri (including Alipurduar, which is still not a judicial district), Cooch Behar, Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The other three districts in north Bengal — North and South Dinajpur and Malda — will come under the jurisdiction of the circuit bench later.
The Bar Association of the bench was constituted on Friday with lawyers Kamal Krishna Banerjee and Abhijit Sarkar as president and secretary.
