Darjeeling cancels leave of government staff for 5 months

KOLKATA: Even before the poll schedule has been announced, the Darjeeling district administration has issued a notification directing that no leaves will be granted to any employees but on medical grounds for five months because of the LS elections. The notification has been sent to all government offices with immediate effect.
The notification says no leave will be granted from March 1, 2019 to July 31, 2019 considering election duties, except on medical grounds after approval by the Medical Board.
However, the directive is not applicable to the armed forces or paramilitary forces posted in the district. “We want to ensure that we can use the maximum work force for election duty,” a district official said. tnn
