WARANGAL: A 21-year-old girl climbed up a cellphone tower after her boyfriend went missing for over a week, prompting the police to trace him and also ensure that the couple's proposed marriage went ahead without any hitch on Tuesday evening. Residents in Pegadapelly village panicked after Damera Malika, 21, who was in love with Nakka Babu, complained that he was not in the village.

Soon, villagers, student unions and women associations rushed to the spot and requested her to come down.
After police intervention, she came down and soon Nakka Babu was traced and brought to the university police station for counselling.
Circle inspector Raghavender Rao spoke to both families, while student unions and women organizations blocked roads in support of their marriage, inside the police station.
"I reached there and the agitators were informed that a marriage cannot be performed inside the police station. The girl's parents approached us and demanded that their daughter and the boy be allowed to marry," said ACP Chandraiah. Nakka Babu, who recently got a job in Singareni Collieries and had allegedly got engaged to another girl secretly, was still at the police station with her parents for a counselling session till late evening. Finally, the couple got married outside the police station. Families of both the boy and girl were present.
