BHAGALPUR: Hundreds of young girls and police women were imparted martial arts training at the Police Kendra here on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Friday.
The initiative, christened as ‘Mission Sashakt’, was aimed at physically and mentally preparing the participants for self-defence and save others from sexual harassment.
The participants were also made aware about healthy lifestyle and the problems of malnutrition and anaemia, which are very common among women.

Bhagalpur SSP Ashish Bharti, who launched the ‘Mission Sashakt’, said the endeavour was to provide life skill education and martial arts training to women, girls and police women to make them physically fit and mentally strong.
“Women can protect themselves and others by getting trained. It would be useful for every section of the society, more so for the girls, as it was not easy to provide them personal security and healthcare,” the SSP said.
“The campaign will continue at Sandy’s Compound ground, colleges and schools,” he said.
City DSP Rajvansh Singh and other police officers also encouraged the participants to learn the art of self-defence.
