Five of a family killed in Sitapur road accident

Five members of a family were killed and six injured after their car hit a stray cattle and careened off the Badeliya Marg in Hargaon police station area of Sitapur district on Friday. The victims were returning from a tilak ceremony in Sidhauli.

LUCKNOW: Five members of a family were killed and six injured after their car hit a stray cattle and careened off the Badeliya Marg in Hargaon police station area of Sitapur district on Friday. The victims were returning from a tilak ceremony in Sidhauli.
The deceased were identified as — Kiran (30), her daughter Mansi (5), Javitri (35) and her two sister-inlaws Neetu (15) and Mohini (14). The injured — Shubham (20), Vishal (25) and Anurag (22) are brothers of Neetu and Mohini.
Driver Suresh (30), Javitri’s son Shyamu (8) and daughter Ashima (5) were also injured and recuperating at a hospital.
According to police, 11 members of a family where returning from the tilak ceremony of one Vijay Kumar. At around 7.50am, when they were barely 10 km from their home, their car hit a stray cattle and careened off the road. Hearing a loud thud, commuters and some villagers rushed to the spot and they informed the police.
Additional superintendent of police (Sitapur) Madhuban Singh said the vehicle lost control after being hit by stray cattle. Five were found dead on the spot, while six others were trapped inside the vehicle.
