Good Samaritan driver hit by car on Tumakuru Road

BENGALURU: A 22-year-old driver was killed instantly after a speeding car hit him near Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Tumakuru Road, near Madavara, on Saturday night.
Police said Nagendra, a resident of Kalyanadurga, Andhra Pradesh, was driving his mini-goods vehicles when he noticed a Bolero pick-up vehicle driver struggling to replace punctured tyre around 11pm.
Nagendra stopped his vehicle and rushed to the pick-up vehicle driver’s help.Nagendra was holding a torch to help the Bolero driver and by that time, a car bound to Tumakuru hit Nagendra and sped away. Nagendra died on the spot as he sustained severe injuries.
Man killed, wife injured as speeding car ram them
In another incident, a 58-year-old pedestrian was killed and his wife injured after a speeding car hit them when they were crossing the road near Arishinakunte village on Tumakuru Road on Sunday morning.
Nelamangala traffic police said Krishna B, a resident of Kamalanagar, west Bengaluru, and retired employee of a private firm, and his wife Sujatha Krishna had visited the village to attend a house-warming ceremony and were crossing the road to catch a bus back home when the accident occurred.
The car driver abandoned his vehicle and took to his heels.
“We have registered a case and seized the vehicle. We will nab the driver soon,” said a police officer.
