Good Samaritan driver hit by car on Tumakuru Road

BENGALURU: A 22-year-old driver was killed instantly after a speeding car hit him near Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Tumakuru Road, near Madavara, on Saturday night.
Police said Nagendra, a resident of Kalyanadurga, Andhra Pradesh, was driving his mini-goods vehicles when he noticed a Bolero pick-up vehicle driver struggling to replace punctured tyre around 11pm.
Nagendra stopped his vehicle and rushed to the pick-up vehicle driver’s help.
Nagendra was holding a torch to help the Bolero driver and by that time, a car bound to Tumakuru hit Nagendra and sped away. Nagendra died on the spot as he sustained severe injuries.

In another incident, a 58-year-old pedestrian was killed and his wife injured after a speeding car hit them when they were crossing the road near Arishinakunte village on Tumakuru Road on Sunday morning.
Nelamangala traffic police said Krishna B, a resident of Kamalanagar, west Bengaluru, and retired employee of a private firm, and his wife Sujatha Krishna had visited the village to attend a house-warming ceremony and were crossing the road to catch a bus back home when the accident occurred.
The car driver abandoned his vehicle and took to his heels.
“We have registered a case and seized the vehicle. We will nab the driver soon,” said a police officer.
