Won’t give Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat to Congress: NCP
NCPO leader Sharad Pawar
NASHIK: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has made it clear that he has no intentions of parting with the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat, which has been the party’s stronghold for decades.
Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil had requested Pawar to leave the seat for his son, Sujay Vikhe Patil, to contest from the family borough of Ahmednagar. Pawar, however, said in Pune on Monday that NCP has a “suitable candidate” for Ahmednagar and there was no plan to leave the seat for Congress.
Though NCP has lost the contest for Ahmednagar to BJP for the past three terms, it has a strong base in the six assembly seats that make up the Lok Sabha constituency. NCP leaders said Congress does not have any presence in these seats.
