Don't carry over Rs 50,000 in poll season: Warangal DC

WARANGAL: District election officer (DEO) of Warangal parliament constituency, Prashanth J Patil, is concentrating his efforts to trace money transfers made through online accounts and social media during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to media on Monday, the DEO said that the model code of conduct (MCC) had come into force and ordered the removal of all political parties advertisements from the walls and public places.He also ordered the corporation authorities to start removing hoardings, publicity banners of political parties with immediate effect.
Patil said that this time, the administration will be using the ECIL electronic voting machines (EVM) as opposed to BEL's machines. "The first phase of the inspection process with all recognised political party volunteers has been concluded," he informed.
"Publicity and other activities should not avoid candidates' election expenditure. The accounts committee will monitor every detail of the contesting candidates' expenditure," Patil added.
Speaking to the media, Warangal district collector said: "People should not carry cash above 50,000 without documents. We are creating awareness among all sections of people about the cash and belongings they can carry."
Both officials also appealed to new voters to check their names in the registration site and make the necessary calls if their names did not figure.
