BENGALURU: Traffic came to a standstill for over a hour on Bengaluru-Tumakuru highway on Monday morning after a crane rammed an electric pole near Nelamangala.
Though no casualties were reported, the incident created a scare among motorists as live wires fell on the road. Alerted by the public, Nelamangala police contacted Bescom officials who made sure power supply to these lines were discontinued immediately.

"The crane was moving on the extreme left lane. On approaching Jas toll, the driver slowed down as a 20-wheel goods truck was parked on the lane. The truck driver tried to take a right but the crane, which seemed to have gained pace suddenly, moved to the extreme right corner. The driver slowed down and veered to the left, but the crane had by then moved to the extreme left. By the time the driver could apply brakes, the crane turned right and rammed the pole," eyewitnesses told police.
