Claude-Michel Schonberg, composer of Les Mis, Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre. (23998683)

This rare public appearance, and a 2019 exclusive to Guernsey, will see the composer in conversation with writer and broadcaster Edward Seckerson, where they will discuss and follow his journey as a songwriter, record producer and singer to the stages of Broadway and the West End.

Schonberg, together with lyricist Alain Boubill, created two of the greatest musicals – Les Miserables and Miss Saigon – and the evening, illustrated with treasured recordings, will see Schonberg discuss his early career as a singer (he had a French number one with Le Premier Pas) as well as the elusive process which triggers the melodies, his love of opera and ballet and his continuing quest to revitalise his greatest score, Martin Guerre.

This event, presented by Take A Left Productions, forms part of the Victor Hugo in Guernsey Conference.
