The year of 1959 will go down in record books as the ‘Year of the Ice’. According to Custer Smith, Game Warden, 32 to 41 inches of thick ice is being reported on area lakes.

The Marshall-Wells Hardware is pleased to announce the change in name to Coast-To-Coast. Mr. Castonia is pleased to become a member store of Coast-To-Coast but says ‘only the name has changed, the product quality and ownership remain the same.

Monday night the Fulda School Board of Education met with the Haarstick-Lundgren Associates, Architects to hear details of the final plans for remodelling the elementary school building. A must is complete electrical re-wiring additional plumbing, and the installation of a kitchen and hot lunch area. No addition to the existing building is contemplated at this time.

Camp Fire Girls will sell Easter lilies on Friday and Saturday.

The Junior Sodality of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church is sponsoring a St. Patrick’s Day card party on March 15th.

Convent Basketeers, 7th and 8th grade Fulda Giants, won twice at Iona this week. The team also defeated Adrian and Fulda Public 7th and 8th graders. The Giants team is made up of Doug Eichten, Gary Runkle, Gene Haberman, Pat Reusse, Jim Drealan, Dick Drealan, Donny Meyer, James Hart, John Haugh, Richard Heger and Robert Winter.

Airman David C. Elskamp, son of Mrs. Fred J. Elskamp, has been selected to attend the technical training course for Personnel Specialists at Lackland AFB, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kirchner are the parents of a son born March 4th.

Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Rogers are the parents of a daughter, Shari born March 2nd. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Magnus.

Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Carlson are the parents of a daughter, Susan, born March 6th.

Dundee one of 84 out of 388 communities to receive a Celebrate Minnesota 1990 grant. The $3,355 will be used to clean up and beautify main street and the parks.

The 53 year old water treatment plant was discussed at the Fulda City Council meeting this week. The system is too small to handle the water storage.

Jenny Fuerstenberg qualifies for National BPA competition to be held in Dallas, Texas.

Featured in Fulda High School Senior Profiles this week are Chuck Zemler, Toni Johlfs, and Troy Kirchner.

Fred and Diane Zemler, owners of the Fulda Cafe since August, are busy cooking up the ‘best roast beef in southwest Minnesota’ each and every day serving over 5000 meals since January 1, 1989.

Citizens of Tomorrow include Sarah, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Neil and John Isder; Robert, Jennifer, Cindy, Jamie, and Bruce Beeck; Darby, Angela, Dulcy and Cassy Stewart.

William and Renae Dowdell are parents of a son, Brady born March 1st. Grandparents are Joan Dowdell, Virgil Rehnelt and Janice Rehnelt.

Mr. Conrad and Dr. Ellen Norby are the parents of a daughter, Erin, born February 26th. Grandparents are Marvin and Maxine Heinrichs.
