Khagaria seeks 50 companies of central forces

KHAGARIA: Khagaria district administration has started making arrangements to hold free, fair and peaceful Lok Sabha election in the district on April 23.
DM-cum-district electoral officer Anirudh Prasad said altogether 16,65,928 voters, including 7,80,525 women, of Khagaria parliamentary constituency will exercise their franchise at 1,714 polling booths.
The Khagaria parliamentary constituency comprises seven assembly segments –Khagaria, Alouli (SC), Beldaur, Parbatta, Simri Bakhtiyarpur in Saharsa district and Hassanpur in Samastipur district.

The DM said all existing posters and hoardings of different political parties have been removed following implementation of model code of conduct. He added the entire area falling under the jurisdiction of Khagaria district has been divided into 97 sectors and at least 10,009 officials will be deployed for smooth conduct of polls.
Khagaria SP Meenu Kumar said the district police have sought 50 companies of paramilitary forces for deployment in the inaccessible areas of the district. She said preventive measures were being taken against history-sheeters, anti-social elements and absconders in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha election. All police stations have been directed to carry out intensive vehicle checking drive.
