Revenue officer nabbed by anti-graft sleuths

The certificate was required to get insurance claim amount to the tune of Rs 1.95 lakh under Chandranna Bima Yojana.

Rajahmundry: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday trapped a revenue inspector red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from a man at his house located at Rampachodavaram in East Godavari.

According to East Godavari ACB DSP M. Sudhakar Rao, Vontukula Adireddi hailing from Chilakamamidi village of Rampachodavaram mandal approached the revenue official from Rampachodavaram Vilentan Babu to process the application to get legal heir certificate for his relative identified as Konuturi Sathibabu and also to submit to the tahsildar of Rampachodavaram.

The certificate was required to get insurance claim amount to the tune of Rs 1.95 lakh under Chandranna Bima Yojana. The RI, however, reportedly demanded Adireddy to pay him a bribe of Rs 5,000 to process the application. Adireddy approached the ACB authorities and informed them about the revenue officer’s demand.

Based on his complaint, the ACB authorities booked a case and trapped the RI while he was accepting the tainted amount from the complainant and secured in a cupboard at his house. The accused was arrested and will be produced before ACB court in Rajahmundry shortly.
