LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party announced five more candidates for Lok Sabha elections on Friday. Four-time MP Shafeeq-ur-Rehman Barq will be party's candidate from Sambhal while sitting MP Tabassum Hasan will be fielded again from Kairana. So far, SP has announced 16 candidates.
An old Mulayam loyalist, Barq, had parted ways with SP in 2009 after the party joined hands with former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh ahead of 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
Barq switched to the BSP camp and won Sambhal seat in 2009 polls on party's ticket.
Later, he returned to the SP fold and sought re-election from Sambhal in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but came second.
Tabassum successfully contested the Kairana bypoll on Rashtriya Lok Dal ticket last year. She will seek re-election from the seat but on SP ticket.
SP also declared Vinod Kumar Singh alias Pandit Singh as party nominee from Gonda; Ram Sagar Rawat from Barabanki, and Surendra Kumar alias Munni Sharma from Ghaziabad.
On Friday, the party announced its third list of candidates. On Tuesday, SP had named Ramji Lal Suman as its candidate from Hathras (reserved) seat and Rajendra S Bind from Mirzapur seat.
