TMC eyes all 3 seats in Murshidabad

BEHRAMPORE: It’s an eye for an eye for Trinamool Congress on Adhir Chowdhury’s turf in Behrampore. TMC seniors Suvendu Adhikari, Firhad Hakim and Birbhum party president Anubrata Mandal have arrived in the town that voted for Congress in the last four Lok Sabha elections.
After taking control of the zilla parishad and all the municipalities, TMC is now eyeing all three Murshidabad seats — Jangipur, Murshidabad and Behrampore. Jangipur and Behrampore went with Congress in 2014 while CPM won the Murshidabad seat.
“Adhir is seeking help from a party that has its hands red with the blood of Congress workers. If he can stoop to such a low, where is the guarantee he won’t shake hands with BJP?” Hakim said. Adhikari told the gathering he would stay put in Behrampore from April 21 to April 27.
