PATNA: Munger University is set to celebrate its first anniversary on a grand scale.
“A series of cultural and literary programmes would be organized during the fortnight-long celebrations commencing on Monday,” said vice-chancellor Ranjit Kumar Verma here on Sunday.
Giving details of the celebrations the VC said, “A kavi sammelan and mushaira will be organized on the first day in which eminent poets from within and outside the university would render their compostions.
This would be followed by a cricket match on March 25. Besides, football match, open chess competition, valley ball, badminton, inter-college folk song and drama competition, alumni meet, teachers’ conference, science seminar and ‘swachhta abhiyan’ will be organized till April 4.”
Verma asserted that the university has made significant strides in administrative and academic matters within a very short time. It has become the first university in the state to start its degree part I honours examinations of 2019. The examination for honours theory papers concluded on Saturday and those of subsidiary papers would be held sometime later. The examinations were held in quite a fair manner and altogether 61 students were expelled for using unfair means in examinations. “More than 17,000 boys and girls of 35 colleges spread in five districts took the examination at 11 centres,” said the VC.
The university has initiated necessary steps for executing academic collaboration with several Indian and foreign universities, including South Pacific University, North-Eastern Hill University , Central University of South Bihar and Aryabhatta Knowledge University. Steps have already been initiated to appoint as many as 298 guest faculties in different subjects as per UGC guidelines. He said students’ attendance in classrooms has increased considerably by the application of social networking and Whats App.
“The university has also entered into an agreement with the post office under its ‘Book now, Pay later’, scheme with a view to expediting correspondence work and ensuring transparency in official working,” Verma added.
